A Lantern of Fireflies: An Illustrated Treasury of Tales of Adventure, Discovery, and Magic

Last September, students from Huron High School struck out on a most noble and arduous literary adventure-—composing the bedtime stories that they wish they had read when they were younger. Coupled with first-hand research of some of the world’s most beloved children’s books and first- and second-grade friends from Mitchell Elementary acting as guides (and occasional co-authors), twenty Huron High ninth-graders produced the collection of bedtime treasures which are paired with the illustrations of renowned artists, including the Caldecott-winning Erin and Phil Stead, Jon Klassen, and Dan Santat among many others. This June, the resulting stories were published as 826michigan’s latest special release, titled A Lantern of Fireflies: An Illustrated Treasury of Tales of Adventure, Discovery, and Magic.
