Harvard Book Store welcomes award-winning musician and author CARLY SIMON and WMVY's BARBARA DACEY for the paperback release of Simon's New York Times–bestselling memoir, Boys in the Trees: A Memoir. This event, taking place at the Brattle Theatre, is co-sponsored by Harvard Square's Club Passim.

Hardcover copies of Boys in the Trees will be available for purchase at the event, in addition to the featured (and 20% off!) paperback edition.
The audio book CD and companion CD to Boys in the Trees will also be available for purchase.
The author will be signing and personalizing copies of the book as well as the audio book and companion CD. No memorabilia or other CDs.
Due to time restrictions, no posed photos during the signing.

About Boys in the Trees

Simon's memoir reveals her remarkable life, beginning with her storied childhood as the third daughter of Richard L. Simon, the co-founder of publishing giant Simon & Schuster, her musical debut as half of The Simon Sisters performing folk songs with her sister Lucy in Greenwich Village, to a meteoric solo career that would result in 13 top 40 hits, including the #1 song "You're So Vain." She was the first artist in history to win a Grammy Award, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award, for her song "Let the River Run" from the movie Working Girl.

The memoir recalls a childhood enriched by music and culture, but also one shrouded in secrets that would eventually tear her family apart. Simon brilliantly captures moments of creative inspiration, the sparks of songs, and the stories behind writing "Anticipation" and "We Have No Secrets" among many others. Romantic entanglements with some of the most famous men of the day fueled her confessional lyrics, as well as the unraveling of her storybook marriage to James Taylor.

Since 2005, Barbara Dacey has been mvyradio Director of Worldwide Programming. Barbara hosts mvyradio's New Music show, "Uncharted Waters." For over twenty-six years she has been a constant at mvy, a most familiar and distinctive voice, whose contributions of talent and guidance to mvyradio continue to this day.

Carly Simon

Carly Simon lives on Martha's Vineyard. She is the author of the memoir Boys in the Trees.

Walking from the Harvard Square T station: 10 minutes

As you exit the station, cross Mass. Ave. and proceed along Brattle St. Follow Brattle St. as it curves to the right in Brattle Square (follow the sidewalk on the right side of the street). The Brattle will be on the left-hand side of the street. The building is shared with Algiers Cafe and Alden & Harlow Restaurant, and the theatre entrance is on the left side of the building—look for the sidewalk poster case and marquee.

While we can't guarantee fulfillment of a signed book pre-order, our authors are almost always able to sign extra books to fulfill such orders.

Call us at (617) 661-1515 and one of our booksellers will take your order. Specify you'd like a signed copy.
If you are requesting a personalized inscription and/or requesting your book be shipped, we'll need to take down credit card information. If you are planning to pick up the signed book in the store, you can pay on pick-up.

FAQ:

Can I request a personalized inscription?
Unless otherwise noted, we are happy to take requests for the author to sign your book to a specific person, but we can't guarantee it. If you do get a personalized inscription, the book will be non-returnable. We will require credit card information when you place the order.

Do signed books cost more?
There is no extra fee for a signed book!

Do I have to pick it up in the store, or can you deliver my signed book?
As with all web or phone orders, we can hold your book for in-store pickup, or ship it anywhere in the country.

I am planning to attend an author event. Do I need to pre-order a book?
No need. We'll be selling books at the event, and nearly all of our events include a signing at the end of the talk.
