Harvard Book Store is pleased to welcome editor CYNTHIA WIGHT ROSSANO for a discussion of the book Durable Values: Selected Writings of Peter J. Gomes. Rossano served for nearly thrity years as sole editor to the late Reverend Professor Peter J. Gomes.

Durable Values contains selections from the sermons, addresses, speeches, and lectures given by Peter J. Gomes, both in his home pulpit of The Memorial Church, Harvard University, and in pulpits and on stages and platforms around the world.

Here is the book he intended to write, but, alas, didn't have time to; here are the topics he wished to address for a wider audience both within and beyond the boundaries of the academy.

We read of Peter's growing-up years in Plymouth, Massachusetts, his college years at Bates College, Harvard Divinity School, Tuskegee Institute, and Harvard University, and of the influences that formed the man he became. We read of his happy years in England, and throughout the book we read and see and experience Peter's infinite wit and wisdom that touched people in all walks and conditions of life.
