Update: Massachusetts' sales tax holiday will be held as proposed, with Governor Deval Patrick recently signing a bill establishing the annual holiday into law.
On Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17, Massachusetts will once again suspend the state sales tax for a summer weekend.
Harvard Book Store (and harvard.com!) will be offering a 15% discount on top of purchases being tax-free that weekend. Our weekend hours are 9am–11pm on Saturday and 10am–10pm on Sunday.
Please note:
- The discount does not apply to gift cards, Kobo e-readers or e-books, or already-discounted (20% off) items.
- The discount does apply to new, used, and remainder books, as well as on Print on Demand titles from our database, and non-book items throughout the store (clothing, cards, chocolate, canvas bags, mugs, and more!

Walking from the Harvard Square T station: 2 minutes
As you exit the station, reverse your direction and walk east along Mass. Ave. in front of the Cambridge Savings Bank. Cross Dunster St. and proceed along Mass. Ave for three more blocks. You will pass Au Bon Pain, JP Licks, and TD Bank. Harvard Book Store is located at the corner of Mass. Ave. and Plympton St.
