Warehouse Weekends: Local Craft

We know you value local. 

We know you make it a point to shop at independent businesses, dine at local restaurants, attend neighborhood events, support community organizations, and champion area artists.

That’s why we’re such good friends.

That’s also why you’re invited to join us this fall for Harvard Book Store’s Warehouse Weekends where local is the name of the game.  We’ve asked dozens of our favorite community cohorts to help us celebrate our collective ind(ie)pendence with bargain books, free samples, contests, workshops, and more!

From 10:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M.  today, our 6500 sq. ft. warehouse in Somerville will feature some of our favorite purveyors of fine local food, feeding your body while Harvard Book Store feeds your mind.  And did we mention we have 25,000 used, rare and remainder books available for your browsing pleasure?  And if that weren't enough of an incentive, all used and remainder art, craft and comic books are 15% all weekend long! (Harvard Book Store Warehouse stock only.)

Meet:

Anne Corrsin/Art & Design - Need help carrying your Warehouse Weekends haul? Pick up one of this Somerville artist's beautiful hand-printed lino cut tote bags!
Bikes Not Bombs - If you prefer two wheels to four, come commune with other "biped-al" fans and learn how this great organization is using the bicycle as a vehicle for social change.
Boston Comics Roundtable - Where the elite meet - to create and share comics!  Chat with local artists and celebrity creators!
Boston Paper Collective - Move over, Gutenberg. Check out the hand-produced paper products by this local studio and learn about how paper is made.
Common Cod Fiber Guild - Watch a live spinning demonstration with a wheel and prop spindle. Fiber Fans: We'll be knitting and crocheting the day away, so bring your latest project and join us!
Fringe Union - 3 artists from Somerville's own creative business incubator and co-working space showcase their work.  Meet:  Brian Hart (Painter/Printmaker), CO&SO (Soft goods and Crafts), Blume Studio (Jewelry)
Kickass Cupcakes - Maximum cupcake satisfaction guaranteed. No fork required!
Million Year Picnic - Comics, comics and more comics, plus their creators:
- 10am to 2pm: Gulp! a monster comics anthology for KIDS! creators Roho, Ansis Purnis and more!
- 2pm to 4pm: Hans Rickheit; The Squirrel Machine, Chrome Fetus
- 4pm to 6pm: Karl Stevens; Failure, Whatever
New England Horror Writers - These guys are not messing around... visit their table, if you dare (or if you like reading stuff that will scare the hell out of you.)
Papercut Zine Library - Make your own zine (there will be zine-making pros to help you, if you don't know how) and check out some of this area's best local zines!
Q's Nuts - A Somerville favorite, this artisan nut company will have you giving in to tempation once you try their line of sweet, savory and exotic flavors.
Zymbol -  A semiannual independent magazine of Art & Writing in the tradition of Symbolism & Surrealism, Zymbol is based in Boston but international in scope.

Our Warehouse is located at 14 Park St. in Somerville, between Somerville Ave. and Beacon St., just outside of Union Square. The closest T stop is Porter Square, on the Red Line, and bus lines #83 and #87 have stops on Somerville Ave. near Park St.

And unlike at most parties… friends of friends are definitely encouraged to bring friends! See you there!

NOTE: We love dogs! But FYI, during Warehouse Weekends, pets aren't allowed in the building. Sorry!
