Help Spread A Love of Reading
It was another busy holiday season at Harvard Book Store, and our thanks go out to everyone who chose to shift their shopping to indie businesses this season!
The spirit of giving good books continues this spring with World Book Night. The deadline to sign up for this unique program is January 5, and we will be a book pickup location for givers. Browse the curated list of books, and apply now to help give away amazing books to those who might not otherwise find them. You just need to pick your favorite titles and answer:
- Where do you intend to give out the books? (at a bus stop? the Y? outside Fenway Park?)
- To whom do you intend to give books?
- Why do you want to participate in World Book Night?
Thanks for signing up and for helping spread the word!
Turn the Page to 2014 2014 is just a few days away. Pick up First Night buttons in the store for $10 each. You'll get admission to every show of First Night Button, including Beantown Outloud, hosted by Steve Almond.

Our event schedule for the first few weeks of 2014 is now posted to harvard.com/events including Gary Shteyngart, Isabel Allende, Scott Stossel, Rachel Kushner, and B.J. Novak! Ishmael Beah: January 9th On January 9th we'll welcome Ishmael Beah for his debut novel, Radiance of Tomorrow. Tickets are on sale now. Here he is reading from the introduction. Edwidge Danticat praises, "What happens when those who have committed atrocities or have been the victims of them return to what is left of their homes? . . . In Radiance of Tomorrow, Beah has produced a formidable and memorable novel -- a story of resilience and survival, and, ultimately, rebirth." --Publishers Weekly 10 Favorite Photos of 2013 Below you'll find some of our favorite photos from around the store this year. And we'd like to hear from you. What were some of your favorite moments of year? Whether it was a poignant remark at an author event, a great book you found on our shelves -- we want to hear about whatever made this indie bookstore special for you this year. Thanks for reading. We'll see you in 2014! --Alex |
