Harvard Book Store welcomes trained culinary expert and Top Chef judge GAIL SIMMONS for a discussion of her latest book, Bringing It Home: Favorite Recipes from a Life of Adventurous Eating. She will be joined in conversation by TIFFANI FAISON, chef and owner of Sweet Cheeks and Tiger Mama, both in Boston's Fenway District.

About Bringing It Home

Gail Simmons is a beloved figure in the food world who has been a popular judge on Top Chef, the number-one rated food show on cable television since its inception. In Bringing It Home, Simmons shares her best recipes and food experiences. From her travels, exploring global flavors and keeping detailed diaries, to her Top Chef culinary adventures with the world's most notable chefs, she is always asking: "How can I bring this dish home to my own kitchen?" Her goal is to make fabulous recipes using accessible ingredients and smart, simple cooking techniques for successful family meals and easy entertaining.

From Bloody Mary Eggs to Christmas Brisket Fried Rice; from Summer Vegetable Salad with Charred Lime Vinaigrette to Banana-Cardamom Upside Down Cake with Salty Caramel, there is a recipe for everyone in the family. Simmons also shares ingredient tips, cooking techniques, and many informative "Snippets," as well as personal and behind-the-scenes stories that will appeal to fans and food lovers everywhere.

Gail Simmons is a trained culinary expert, the special projects director at Food & Wine, and a judge on Bravo's Emmy-winning series Top Chef since its inception in 2006. Simmons makes frequent television appearances on TodayGood Morning AmericaThe Chew, and The Talk, and has been featured in New York magazine, Travel + LeisureGQ, and People, among others. Her first book, a memoir titled Talking with My Mouth Full: My Life as a Professional Eater, was published in 2012. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and daughter.

Tiffani Faison

Tiffani Faison is an American chef, restaurateur, culinary consultant and television personality. She began cooking for Todd English in Boston and has traveled the country and the world working for such renowned chefs as Daniel Boulud, Alain Ducasse, and Tony Maws. In 2009, Tiffani was tapped to run Rocca Kitchen & Bar, earning a three-star review from the Boston Globe. She then opened her first venture, Sweet Cheeks, a Texas-style barbecue restaurant, adding another three-star review to her resume. In December 2015 she opened Tiger Mama, also in Boston's Fenway District, focusing on Southeast Asian cousine. Tiffani was the runner-up on Season 1 of Top Chef and competed on Top Chef All-Stars and Top Chef Duels. She is a tireless advocate for LGBT human rights issues and lives in Boston with her wife and furry kids.

Tickets will also be available at Harvard Book Store and over the phone at 617-661-1515. Unless the event is sold out, any remaining tickets will be on sale at the door of the venue when doors open. Books bundled with e-tickets may only be picked up at the venue the night of the event, and cannot be picked up in-store beforehand.

As you exit the station, cross Mass. Ave. and proceed along Brattle St. Follow Brattle St. as it curves to the right in Brattle Square (follow the sidewalk on the right side of the street). The Brattle will be on the left-hand side of the street. The building is shared with Algiers Cafe and Alden & Harlow Restaurant, and the theatre entrance is on the left side of the building—look for the sidewalk poster case and marquee.

  • If you are requesting a personalized inscription and/or requesting your book be shipped, we'll need to take down credit card information. If you are planning to pick up the signed book in the store, you can pay on pick-up.

Can I request a personalized inscription?
Unless otherwise noted, we are happy to take requests for the author to sign your book to a specific person, but we can't guarantee it. If you do get a personalized inscription, the book will be non-returnable. We will require credit card information when you place the order.

Do signed books cost more?
There is no extra fee for a signed book!

Do I have to pick it up in the store, or can you deliver my signed book?
As with all web or phone orders, we can hold your book for in-store pickup, or ship it anywhere in the country.

I am planning to attend an author event. Do I need to pre-order a book?
No need. We'll be selling books at the event, and nearly all of our events include a signing at the end of the talk.
