On Friday evening we hosted a very special author event here in Harvard Square. Attendees drove, flew, and bused in from Maine, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Texas, Canada, and even Venezuela (!!) to hear Stephen King present his newly released novel Doctor Sleep.  Tickets included a copy of the book, and 250 attendees randomly received signed first editions of the novel. We saw plenty of hopping up and down and joyful tears that night. When one guest (who drove thirteen hours from Ohio to be here) did not luck out with a signed book, the lucky guy next to her traded her his copy. "You have absolutely made my year," she wept. It was pretty cool. And boy, is this book creepy and good. According to Margaret Atwood, " by the end of this book your fingers will be mere stubs of their former selves." Our Warehouse Weekends continue this weekend (with a focus on science and sci-fi) and then conclude next weekend, featuring comic books, craft, and D.I.Y. culture.
