Harvard Book Store welcomes GESINE BULLOCK-PRADO—acclaimed pastry chef and host of Food Network’s Baked in Vermont—for a discussion of her new cookbook My Vermont Table: Recipes for All (Six) Seasons. She will be joined in conversation by JOANNE CHANG, James Beard award–winning baker and co-owner of Flour Bakery + Café and Myers + Chang.

About My Vermont Table

When Gesine Bullock-Prado left her Hollywood life in 2004 and moved to Vermont, she fell in love with the Green Mountain State’s flavors and six unique seasons. Spring, summer, fall, and winter all claim their place at this table, but a true Vermonter holds extra space for maple-forward mud season―that time of year before spring when thawing ice makes way for mucky roads―and stick season, a notable period of bare trees and gourds galore prior to winter.

In My Vermont Table, Bullock-Prado takes readers on a sweet and savory journey through each of these special seasons. Recipes like Blackberry Cornmeal Cake, Vermont Cheddar Soup, Shaved Asparagus Toasts, and Maple Pulled Pork Sliders utilize local produce, dairy, wine, and flour. And quintessential Vermont flavors are updated with ingredients and spices from Bullock-Prado’s own backyard. Gesine Bullock-Prado

Gesine Bullock-Prado is an acclaimed pastry chef and baking instructor, teaching at her own baking school, Sugar Glider Kitchen, and the King Arthur Baking School. She’s the author of one baking memoir, five baking cookbooks, and the upcoming cookbook, My Vermont Table. She’s the host of Food Network’s Baked in Vermont and a frequent baking competition judge. Gesine lives in Vermont in a historic 18th century tavern and farm along with her husband, Raymond, and a host of animals.

Joanne Chang

James Beard Award-winning chef Joanne Chang opened the first Flour bakery in 2000. 20 years later, she now operates nine Flour bakeries and sister restaurant Myers + Chang in Boston/Cambridge with her husband and business partner Christopher Myers. Joanne, Flour, and Myers + Chang have garnered local and national recognition from Gourmet, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, the New York Times, the Food Network, Conde Nast Traveler, Inc. Magazine, O Magazine, Boston Magazine, and the Boston Globe. She is the author of five cookbooks, teaches and advises local pastry cooks, and has launched an IGTV series Flour Love (#flourlove) on Instagram featuring a collection baking kits with baking demonstration videos.

Walking from the Harvard Square T station: 2 minutes

As you exit the station, reverse your direction and walk east along Mass. Ave. in front of the Cambridge Savings Bank. Cross Dunster St. and proceed along Mass. Ave for three more blocks. You will pass Au Bon Pain, JP Licks, and TD Bank. Harvard Book Store is located at the corner of Mass. Ave. and Plympton St.

Unable to attend a Harvard Book Store author event? You can still pre-order a signed book by one of our visiting authors.

While we can't guarantee fulfillment of a signed book pre-order, our authors are almost always able to sign extra books to fulfill such orders.

Call us at (617) 661-1515 and one of our booksellers will take your order. Specify you'd like a signed copy.
If you are requesting a personalized inscription and/or requesting your book be shipped, we'll need to take down credit card information. If you are planning to pick up the signed book in the store, you can pay on pick-up.

Can I request a personalized inscription?
Unless otherwise noted, we are happy to take requests for the author to sign your book to a specific person, but we can't guarantee it. If you do get a personalized inscription, the book will be non-returnable. We will require credit card information when you place the order.

Do signed books cost more?
There is no extra fee for a signed book!

Do I have to pick it up in the store, or can you deliver my signed book?
As with all web or phone orders, we can hold your book for in-store pickup, or ship it anywhere in the country.

I am planning to attend an author event. Do I need to pre-order a book?
No need. We'll be selling books at the event, and nearly all of our events include a signing at the end of the talk.
