Husband Material has almost all of the things I loved about Boyfriend Material and builds on them beautifully. (Crucially, the main element the sequel is missing is the fake dating plot, which I must say makes it much easier to build upon the foundation of a mutually fulfilling and supportive romantic relationship. Don't get me wrong, though: I love the fake dating trope.) The biggest thing I wanted more of in Boyfriend Material was Luc and Oliver's dynamic beyond the context of their "fake" relationship. Husband Material more than delivers, and all with a blunt sort of honesty that somehow loops back around into feeling magical. In spite of the fact that Oliver and Luc quite frequently say exactly the wrong thing to one another, neither of them are ever in any doubt that they love and care for each other deeply.
Genuinely, this book is so good that if it weren't for the fact it wouldn't make much sense without having read the first, I'd suggest you read it on its own. (As it stands, why not pick up both?)
